Understand it, don't cram it.

Thirty-five questions stand between you and your first callsign. Seven short modules on what's actually behind them — the rules, the electricity, the bands, the antenna, the safety — so the question pool reads as review instead of a memory test.

What you'll walk away with

Not "exposure to radio theory" — the specific things you'll do on exam day and on your first contact.

  • Work Ohm's law and the power formula in your head, in any of their three arrangements.
  • Say exactly where a Technician may transmit — and what you get on HF.
  • Read a repeater listing — offset, tone, simplex — and program a radio from it.
  • Estimate a half-wave dipole for any band from the frequency alone.
  • Know what SWR is telling you and when it means stop transmitting.
  • Walk into the session knowing the format, the fee, and the passing score.

✦ The Glossary

Simplex, offset, CTCSS, SWR, ERP, PEP — every term the exam and the repeater listing throw at you, in plain English.

🖨 Cheat sheet

One printable page: Ohm's law, the Technician band edges, antenna lengths, the ID rule, and the safety numbers.

Who this is forAnyone going for their first amateur radio licence — the US Technician class. No electronics background assumed and no Morse code required (that requirement went away in 2007). This teaches the concepts the exam is built on; pair it with a few practice runs through the current official question pool before you sit the real thing.
